Galerie Privée 2017

Christoph Brünggel's work is about the polarity of aesthetic order and disruption, and the cycle of construction to deconstruction, decay and restoration. The work created for the park around the gallery in Lacoste is an excellent illustration of his field of interest, as he uses a traditional colouring technique with ochre extracted from the region's soil.

In the gallery itself, "for VI" can be seen. The work appears as an intact form, an atmospheric ensemble reminiscent of the shape and arrangement of individual organ pipes. However, traces of damage can be read on the individual brass elements. The degree of deformation increases from left to right, until the inscribed signs of collision with a rock are most evident on the last tube on the outer right. In this work, the shine and aesthetics of the gold-coloured metal are diametrically opposed to the traces of destruction.

The photo series "for VII" allows us to catch a glimpse of the inside of the tubes, of the interior otherwise closed to us, with its deformations caused by the blows on the rock.

Once again, Christoph Brünggel demonstrates his ability to make polarities visible with different artistic media.
