Galerie Privée 2021

This summer, the first exhibition with works from the Bob + Kathrin Gysin Foundation collection will take place in the Galerie Privée.

The photographic work comes from the Swiss artist Cécile Wick. The images shown evoke impressive moods and enter into a dialogical relationship with the landscaped exterior of the gallery.

«The attempt to illustrate duration as a flowing continuum and as a metamorphic process is the main theme in Cécile Wick's work. Each work represents a condensate of different lighting conditions and moments of time. However, it only gains its full expressiveness in the context of the series. The slightest changes from work to work give an idea of the weaving of time in the appearance of the waterfall, the cloud, the plant, the mountain, the sea, or the artist's face. As the artist herself intervenes in the photographic process and undermines the technical programmability, the results are photographs with markedly painterly qualities, for the implementation of which she also repeatedly uses printmaking processes. Cécile Wick is not concerned with capturing the world in a documentary manner, "but rather dissolving the world into images, up to the point of non-representationality" (Martin Jaeggi). " (Angelika Affentranger-Kirchrath, 1998)
